tag, you're it!

it may be shocking to hear that sometimes i have things that don't sell. (i'll give you a moment to let that sink in... ha) sometimes there are items that i take to market after market and renew the etsy listing over and over and still no one wants it. when i used to make jewelry, i would just take the piece apart and use the beads for to make something else. a necklace would become earrings, earrings would become part of a bracelet, etc, etc. ashes to ashes and such.

working with paper isn't like working with beads, however, and i have struggled to figure out what to do with the unwanted envelopes. in the past, these items (and the scraps that come with the creation process) have become collages, but those are difficult to sell online and i only have so much wall space for myself. then i had an epiphany: gift tags.

i like the idea of gift tags because they are so versatile... i actually used to use them to price my jewelry! from wine bottles to gift bag closures to a non-adhesive way to label something, gift tags are the perfect answer to how i could recycle my recycled awesome. here is a sample set. i made it by rubber cementing an urban outfitters shoe spread to card stock, then cutting it out with a paper punch and threading it for use. hope you like it!
